The ORR family during the 1700's were in Ireland.  We know the names of several brothers and sisters.  William ORR, formerly of Glinehum in the County of Monagham, Ireland, was the first to leave Ireland and come to America.  He died about June 1803 with an estate in Pendleton District (Anderson County), South Carolina of about 350 acres.  He left no lawful wife or children and had no last Will & Testament.  Thomas Orr, age 20, was William Orr's nephew, being his brother's son, and was a native of the County Armagh in Ireland.  Thomas Orr was employeed 17 April 1804 by William Orr's brothers and sisters with power of attorney to sell and dispose all the Estate of William Orr.  William Orr's known brothers and sisters in Ireland were:

Mary Orr who married a Forseyth.
Samuel Orr - A farmer in Carlagan in the County of Monagham, Ireland.
Robert Orr - A carpenter of (sp) Mahuadyhuby / Muhuailghuly in lreland.
Agnes Orr who had married Alexander Whitcraft of Glajnknow in the County of Monagham.
Alexander Orr - A weaver in Bellaheagh in the County of Armagh, Ireland.

Thomas Orr arrived in the United States in November 1804 and as soon as practicable sold all the estate of William Orr that he could identify.  He paid over to one of the persons, who gave him the power of attorney, the proceeds of the sold estate to their satisfaction.

150 acres of land in the estate was sold to a Mr. William Spruell.  Thomas Orr was unable to collect the money from Mr. Spruell and rescended the contract.  Thomas Orr then settled on the 150  acres of land that was located on the 23 Mile Creek in Plendleton District, SC.

About 1826, a James Orr claim to be the natural (or illigitemate) son of William Orr and petitioned the Legislature to vest in him the legal title to the land.  The outcome from the court is unknown.  However, in 1873 a Georgeann Orr claimed to be the widow of James Orr who died 12 SEP 1873 living on 23 Mile Creek and petitioned the court to set aside a Homestead to her on the 335 acre tract. A date to hear the petition was set for 31 AUG 1874.   A deed of trust for the estate had been made to John B. Orr for the use and benefit of William Orr, Edwin B. Orr and Frank Orr.

Edwin Orr had died before 1873 leaving a widow, Margaret D. Orr, and two minor children, Sally Orr and Abbey Orr.
